What is Onimusha?
Onimusha (鬼武者) is Capcom's Sengoku-era action series starring sword-wielding Oni warriors fighting the Genma demon invasion. Five mainline titles spanning 2001 to 2026.
Do I need to play the older games first?
No. Onimusha: Way of the Sword (2026) is a standalone story set in Edo-period Kyoto, separate from the Samanosuke / Jubei / Soki saga. New players can start here without spoilers.
Is the series canon across games?
Warlords → 2 → 3 → Dawn of Dreams form one connected arc (2001–2006). Way of the Sword is its own separate continuity, designed for new players as well as returning fans.
