Way of the Sword — Oni Vision and Soul Farming Guide
Oni Vision reveals all demons in an area. Soul farming is how you stock red, yellow, and blue souls efficiently. Best routes, mistakes to avoid, and pre-boss prep.

What is Oni Vision?
Which soul type should I farm?
Where is the best soul farming spot?
Oni Vision is Way of the Sword’s utility ability — it highlights every demon in the area, including hidden ones, so you know what you’re walking into before engaging. Soul farming is the practice of replaying short, dense enemy encounters to stock up on the three soul types your Oni Gauntlet absorbs. Both are central to the game’s economy.
What each soul type is for
| Soul | Color | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Red | Red | Weapon upgrades at Oni Gate shrines. Always farm these before a boss. |
| Yellow | Yellow | Healing. Common drop, easy to stock. |
| Blue | Blue | Fuels Oni Armaments (heavy-damage consumables). Less common, more valuable. |
When to farm what
The principle is to match your farming to your immediate goal:
- Before a boss: spend 5–10 minutes farming red souls, then upgrade your katana at the Oni Gate shrine. The damage difference between an upgraded and un-upgraded weapon is huge.
- Before a long stage with no save points: farm yellow souls so you have healing cushion.
- Before a heavy-damage boss with limited windows: farm blue souls so you have Oni Armaments ready to break the boss’s momentum.
Oni Vision as a farming tool
Oni Vision’s main use in farming is finding enemies you would otherwise miss. Hidden Genma tucked into side paths, ambush enemies behind corners, miniboss-tier stragglers in optional areas — Oni Vision highlights all of them. In a farming loop, this is the difference between a 30-second clear and a 90-second clear, which compounds across multiple runs.
Activate Oni Vision as soon as you enter the farming stage. Don’t activate it during combat — it costs nothing but the activation animation interrupts your combo.
The pre-boss farming checklist
Before any boss, run through this list:
- Activate Oni Vision at the Oni Gate shrine and check for any farming opportunities in the immediate area.
- Re-run the previous stage once if it has dense enemy spawns. 5 minutes of farming is almost always worth the investment.
- Spend red souls at the shrine before entering the boss arena. Don’t carry unspent red souls into the fight — you might die and lose them.
- Stock at least 2 Oni Armament charges (blue souls) for the phase transition.
- Check yellow soul count — make sure you have enough healing cushion for at least 3 mistakes.
Mistakes to avoid
- Don’t farm without a goal. Mindless farming is a time sink. Always farm for a specific upcoming need (boss, long stage, Oni Portal run).
- Don’t farm in stages you haven’t cleared. If you get stuck, you lose progress and have to restart the stage from the beginning.
- Don’t carry unspent red souls. Spend them at the shrine before risky content. The shrine is also a save point.
- Don’t ignore yellow souls. They’re common but easy to overlook when you’re focused on red and blue. Healing cushion saves runs.
