FAQ

How many charms are in Way of the Sword?
The Charmed Life trophy tracks 15 charms earned from side stories and Mysteries of Kyoto, per PowerPyx. Maxroll additionally lists six Lovable charms from the demo, pre-order and Deluxe Edition — its headline says 22 while its own table enumerates 21, so treat that total with care.
Can I miss any charms?
No. PowerPyx states none of the 15 trophy-tracked charms can be missed, and side content stays open until the point of no return before the final mission.
How do I upgrade charms?
At Enma Hall, by offering food items (Favor) plus Red Souls. Maxroll lists level 2 at 3,000 Red Souls plus 3,500 Favor and level 3 at 6,000 Red Souls plus 6,500 Favor.
How many charms can I equip at once?
Three. You start with one charm slot and unlock the other two through skill investment, per Maxroll.

This is the charms guide for Onimusha: Way of the Sword: where all 15 trophy-tracked charms come from, what the six Lovable charms are, and how the upgrade system at Enma Hall works.

The 15 quest charms

Each of the fifteen charms below is tied to one piece of side content — a Side Story or a Mystery of Kyoto. Maxroll’s table lists them as follows:

CharmSource
Charm of the HealerMain story — The Stage is Set at Kiyomizu
Charm of ZealSide Story — Pale Lights in the Night Sky
Sadist’s Strength CharmSide Story — Clear Space, Clear Mind
Charm of PurificationMystery — The Blessed Man
Reaper’s CharmSide Story — An Ugly Business
Charm of StaminaSide Story — The Growling Ghost
Charm of DexteritySide Story — Noisy Neighbors
Inner Strength CharmMystery — Something in the Water
Charm of EnticementThe Odd Couples
Blazing CharmMystery — Worm-ly Ways
Fencer’s Strength CharmMystery — The Faceless
Charm of AwakeningA Fishy Story
Charm of Oni PowerSide Story — Restless Spirits
Oni Strength CharmSome Unfinished Monkey Business
Charm of ProtectionMystery — The Night Parade

Three entries — The Odd Couples, A Fishy Story and Some Unfinished Monkey Business — carry no quest-type label in Maxroll’s table, which is why they are listed here without one. PowerPyx summarizes the whole set as coming from the Chance Encounter and Mystery of Kyoto side systems; either way, the rule that matters: finish side content and the fifteen come to you, with none missable before the final mission’s point of no return.

The eight Mysteries of Kyoto and eighteen Chance Encounters that host much of this list are themselves collectible trophies — the trophy guide tables every count.

How charm upgrading works

Upgrading happens at Enma Hall and costs two currencies: Red Souls and Favor. Favor comes from food items found around the levels and from rescuing distressed Kyoto citizens — the same activity behind the Citizen Savior trophy. Maxroll’s posted costs:

LevelRed SoulsFavor
23,0003,500
36,0006,500

Effects scale across the three levels — Maxroll’s example shows a +4/6/8% progression — so a fully upgraded charm is roughly double its base effect. Across fifteen charms that is 135,000 Red Souls in total, which makes the soul farming guide the natural companion page.

The six Lovable charms

Separate from the trophy set, six cosmetic Lovable charms exist as bonuses:

CharmHow it is obtained
Lovable Charm: Kubi AkariDemo completion
Lovable Charm: Lion DogPre-order bonus
Lovable Charm: White MonkeyPre-order (listed against the Deluxe Edition in Maxroll’s table)
Lovable Charm: Oni LadyDeluxe Edition
Lovable Charm: Little DancerDeluxe Edition
Lovable Charm: MentorDeluxe Edition

The pre-order and Deluxe Edition bonuses are the same items this wiki tracks on the editions page. To claim any purchased bonus charm, visit a Spirit Mirror and open Additional Content — a gold chest icon means unclaimed, grey means already claimed. That is the same claim flow documented step by step on the Monster Hunter Rise collab page.

Charmed Life and where to go next

Finding all fifteen quest charms unlocks Charmed Life, one of the collectible trophies on the Platinum roadmap. For loadout thinking: you have three slots, so most players run one sustain charm, one damage charm and one utility pick — IGN publishes a Best Charms breakdown if you want someone else’s picks ranked. For the other big item set in the game, see all seven Oni Armaments and their locations.
