Fine Silk Cloths and Tamahagane are the two rare materials behind Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s equipment endgame — 25 of each, spent at the Spirit Mirror, powering the Dressed to Kill trophy (“Enhance all equipment to the maximum level”, per PowerPyx). This page explains what they upgrade, how the 25+25 supply divides up, and lists every location, map area by map area. For the skill materials — the 109 Power and Oni Stones — see the skills guide and its locations page.
What do the materials upgrade?
Three gear tracks enhance at the Spirit Mirror, each with its own material diet:
| Track | Rare materials | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Clothing | Fine Silk Cloth (capped by Cloth; lower levels use Cotton/Leather) | Health and stamina upgrades |
| Sword | Tamahagane (lower levels use Iron/Tempered Iron) | Damage upgrades |
| Oni Gauntlet | Malicite family + boss materials (Byakue’s Talisman, Dohatsu-ten’s Horn) | Uses neither of this page’s materials |
Spending venue, per PowerPyx: “Equipment gets enhanced at the Spirit Mirror, automatically unlocked during the mission ‘The Oni’s Apprentice’. Once in the menu select the ‘Equipment Enhancement’ tab.” Charms are a separate system entirely — Enma Hall, Favor and Red Souls, on the charms guide.

How does the 25 + 25 supply divide?
Exactly enough — with a catch:
| Material | Gear track needs | Pouch upgrades need | Total found |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fine Silk Cloth | 23 (Clothing to max) | 2 (Default pouch levels 2–3) | 25 |
| Tamahagane | 23 (Sword to max) | 2 (Resistance pouch levels 2–3) | 25 |
“If you spend all 25 Tamahagane on the Sword or all 25 Fine Silk Cloth on Clothing, you will leave the corresponding Hozuki Pouch upgrades unfunded” (gamers.wiki). Dressed to Kill only demands the 23; the last two of each fund the pouch track behind the Medical Marvel trophy. The pickup/activity split: Tamahagane runs 17 physical pickups and 8 activity rewards; Fine Silk Cloth runs 16 pickups and 9 activity rewards.

How do the Hidden Oni Treasures work?
Six of the entries above — cloth #14, #15, #18, #20 and #24, plus Tamahagane #19 — sit in Hidden Oni Treasure chests, and they behave differently from normal chests: the Chance Encounter must be active before the chest exists. “If you visit the correct rooftop, waterfall, temple, shrine balcony, or pagoda roof before accepting the corresponding encounter, the reward may not appear” (gamers.wiki). The marker is approximate; once on site, “use your Oni Eyes (Oni Vision) in the right spot to uncover the treasure itself” (Gaming ProMax). The full encounter list is on the side content guide. Hidden Treasure #4 is the double dip — it holds both a Tamahagane and a Fine Silk Cloth.
Can you miss or farm them?
- Not missable. Free roam runs to the point-of-no-return warning before The Clash At Rendaino, and “no Tamahagane or Fine Silk Cloth location was identified as post-story-only” (gamers.wiki). After the credits, the Continue menu drops you back before the finale — the safety net explained on the New Game+ guide.
- Finite per playthrough. “These are finite rewards for the current playthrough, so use the checklists below instead of searching for a repeatable rare-material farm” (gamers.wiki). No source documents a farm.
- A shop exists — as a fallback. After “Careful What You Wish For”, Yorimasa’s Monument trades Red Souls for consumables and upgrade materials (IGN). Whether it ever stocks these two rare materials specifically is single-source (gamers.wiki: “limited rare-material stock”) and unconfirmed — do not plan a shop-purchased Dressed to Kill around it.
- New Game+ resets everything relevant: the materials, the gear levels they bought, and the quests that award them all start over. Plan the trophy on one save.
Where does this fit in the Platinum?
Dressed to Kill is one of the two “fully upgraded” bookends of the Platinum roadmap — the other being Well-Rounded’s 109 stones. Both sweeps are roadmap step two’s free-roam cleanup, parked before the finale on your first run.
